Meet The Founders
Meet Mohamed Farag, a seasoned technologist, engineer, and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in the software industry. Throughout his career, he has successfully undertaken and delivered over 100 projects of varying scales across 12 different countries. With expertise as a developer, architect, and consultant, Mohamed has gained invaluable insights into the intricate workings of the industry. Farag worked in the Acquisitions & Integrations team at ESW Capital, spearheading technical due diligence for over 30 software companies. Guiding the acquisition of a portfolio exceeding $150 million, where he evaluated and assessed the technological aspects of potential investments. Now, as the co-founder and CEO of Subsbase, Farag has set out to revolutionize the subscription management landscape in the MENA region. Recognizing a market gap and leveraging his extensive experience in building, maintaining, selling, and acquiring software and SaaS companies, he embarked on the mission to develop a world-class SaaS product with co-founder, Sherif Aziz.
Prior to founding Subsbase Sherif worked in sales roles for around five years at Microsoft during the early days of the cloud’s launch in Africa. After that Sherif moved to Amsterdam for a year to work at Backbase, a fintech company that works with some of the largest banks in the world to digitize their user experience. After Backbase, Sherif moved back to Egypt and rejoined Microsoft to work on launching their startups initiative, before joining RiseUp as chief commercial officer. Sherif has also led middle east expansion efforts for some of Europe’s most prominent fintech companies such as Mambu and Kony. Witnessing the development of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt during his time at RiseUp drove Sherif to start his own business. This is when Farag reached out to him looking for a co-founder. It was a SaaS business, which was an opportunity that was right up his street. Farag & Sherif found that no subscription management platform existed in the region and began working on Subsbase together.
